Hot-dip galvanizing in WEGAL bath of increased manganese content

The results of hot-dip galvanizing of low-silicon steel (08X grade) and reactive steel (S235JRG2 grade) samples in zinc bath made of tin-free WEGAL alloy with manganese content increased to 0.2% (ZnAl0.1Ni0.1Mn0.2) have been presented. The researched WEGAL alloy microstructure and phase composition were shown. Its melting point was determined basing on thermal analysis of solidification. Galvanizing tests were performed at the temperature of 445°C, with retention time – 10 min. Analysis of tests results comprised assessment of coatings microstructure and thickness. The manual bending tests of galvanized samples on steel mandrel (angle 180°, radius 5 mm) were carried out with visual evaluation of samples outside edges. Obtained coatings were characterized by good plasticity and aesthetical appearance. The importance of zinc bath composition on coating growth kinetics has been demonstrated.

Corrosion tests of positive plates modified by post-production waste mass to be used in SLI lead acid batteries

The paper presents electrical and corrosion resistance results of leadacid cells with positive plates produced using waste electrode material as addition to the active mass. The grids used in the study were made of PbCaSn alloy obtained by the expanded metal method. Plates preparation consisted in manual application of the paste with different waste electrode material on the grids. The study shows differences in cells behavior

dependent on the amount of the introduced waste material. In addition, positive plates containing 5 and 10% wt. of waste active mass have higher capacity than a plate with standard formulation. Analyses of the produced positive plates containing waste mass that were submitted to a corrosion test showed no signs of corrosion.

The investigation of basic technical properties of cement composites impregnated with polymerized sulfur

This paper presents the results of the experimental research and analyses indicating the usefulness of waste of sulfur to the protection against corrosion of cement composites. The research have comprised the composition and the conditions for the formation of materials. The physical and mechanical properties of polymerized sulfur composite have been evaluated. The investigation of basic technical properties of cement composites impregnated with polymerized sulfur were examined.
