Influence of biopolymer binder modification on the properties of dispersion paints

Waterborne, polyurethane dispersions (WPUs) synthesized from biobased polyols and aliphatic isocyanates of petrochemical origin, were tested for their potential use as binders in coating formulations. Polymers were different regarding soft (polyol) and hard (urethane and urea groups) as well as hydrophilic segments and the type and content of the isocyanate used for their synthesis. It was found that film-forming properties of bio-based polyurethane dispersions and performance properties of a 100% WPU-based paint may be improved if, for other polymer components remaining the same, different type of the soft (bio-based polyol) segment is used.

Concrete for this research was collected from the construction site during the construction phase of sewage treatment plant after wet flue-gas desulfurization process. The aim of the studies was to check the changes in the properties of hardened concrete under the influence of sulfate salt aqueous solution and a real wastewater, taking into account structural (microsilica) and surface (polyurea) protection providing tightness and increasing the chemical resistance of concrete.

Preinsulated pipelines for earth gas, crude oil and complex liquids and cathodic protection

Application of pipelines made of preinsulated tubes for transfer of earth gas, crude oil and complex liquids has been presented. Fundamental differences between pipelines covered with an external insulating protective coating directly on the steel surface, e.g. popular pipes with 3LPE

insulation and preinsulated pipelines have been shown. Cathodic protection operating mechanisms which do not function in the case of preinsulated steel pipes have been discussed.
